Bhikkhu Sunyo was born in the Netherlands and raised in the shade of windmills, amidst fields of tulips and cheese. He got into Buddhism and meditation near the end of high school. After twenty-six years of unbridled headbanging, mathematics, and playing The Sims, and many other distractions; he decided to better his life. In 2013, after finishing University, he moved to Bodhinyana Monastery to become a monk. On the day of his ordination, he met his best friend ever in life – his robes – and he hopes to never have to leave this friend behind. Bhikkhu Sunyo has been in Bodhinyana most of the time since and according to him, he has been living the good life. He also has a wide knowledge and expertise in the Pali language; accordingly, he has been teaching Pali at Bodhinyana Monastery for the past six years. He also did his first teaching gig at Dhammaloka Buddhist Centre in February 2020 which was very well received. Since then, he has done a few short talks during the Covid Lock-Down period. In Oct 2020, he partnered with Ajahn Brahmali to deliver the Early Buddhism Series – Dependent Origination Workshops. Bhikkhu Sunyo is grateful to all who have supported him, especially those who have provided him with food and shelter. Thus giving him the opportunity to undertake his spiritual journey.
