Ayya Pasada grew up in a family that wasn’t particularly interested in religion. There was Buddhism around, but she didn’t meet the Dhamma until after she graduated from university. When she did meet the Dhamma, she thought: ‘This is the wisest thing I’ve ever heard. How come I went through my entire education without learning this?’ She began to feel drawn to monastic life. She attended retreats and practised with various Dhamma teachers over a number of years, as her interest in renunciation continued to deepen. Eventually she came across an Ajahn Brahm retreat, and she was intrigued by his joy, stillness and deep wisdom.

She had her anagarika and novice training at Santi Forest Monastery with Bhante Sujato as her teacher, before joining Dhammasara Monastery. She took her Bhikkhuni ordination at Dhammasara with Ayya Tathaloka as her preceptor in early 2012. Residing at Dhammasara, she has been receiving support and guidance from Ajahn Hasapanna since.
