Ajahn Appicato was born in 1964 and grew up on the south coast of NSW. Educated and employed as a registered nurse he ordained as an anagarika at Bodhinyana monastery in 1993. After 5 years as a fully ordained monk he traveled extensively, living in monasteries in Italy, England, Thailand, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. In 2008 he returned to Bodhinyana and is now the second most senior monk after Ajahn Brahm.
