Memorial for Richard Barton – Founding Member of BSWA

The family of Richard Barton has organised a memorial service to honour his life and legacy.
We encourage all members and friends of the Buddhist Society of Western Australia (BSWA) to attend and pay their respects.

Richard’s dedication and vision helped establish the BSWA in 1973.
From humble beginnings in a small home in West Leederville, he played a vital role in founding what has become a thriving spiritual community of around 2,000 active members—both locally and worldwide.

As the Society’s first Librarian and an early committee member, Richard helped lay the groundwork for decades of Dhamma teaching, meditation, and community support.
His legacy lives on in every aspect of our shared practice.

Please join us for the memorial service on:

Date: Monday, 8 July 2025
Time: 2pm
Location: Dhammaloka Buddhist Centre

This is a meaningful opportunity to come together in gratitude and remembrance for a man whose efforts helped open the path for so many.
We look forward to seeing you there.
