Introduction to Buddhist Philosophy
For the past five years BAMBI has been organizing sessions to learn about meditation and also about how to develop the mind. However, we have never organized anything related to the central tenets of Buddhist philosophy. So we thought we would try a series of four workshops aimed at providing a clear outline of the fundamentals of Buddhist philosophy.
If you are interested in learning the basic structural outline that underpins Buddhist philosophy (and practice) then come along to all (or any) of these workshops.

Who are the teachers?

Adrian Kemp – teaching in Busselton
After studying Psychology in Perth, Adrian lived overseas, including Japan where he developed a Zen Practice. Returning home but inspired by a teacher he had met, Tangen Harada Roshi, he wanted to further understand Buddhist Practice and stayed with Ajahn Brahm at Bodhinyana and other monasteries in the Thai Forest Tradition. A trip to Thailand lead to a temporary ordination that lasted 8 years where Ajahn Anan was his teacher and he devoted himself more fully to the Teaching. He returned to lay life in 2020 and has been living in Margaret River Area and seeks to deepen his own Practice, help others to do the same and understand how to live well in the world.

Sol Hanna – teaching in Margaret River
Sol has been practicing Buddhism for thirty years. During that time he has had many roles including being an anagarika and novice monk at Bodhinyana Monastery under the teaching of Ajahn Brahm; being on the Buddhist Society of Western Australia Committee for twelve years including four years as President; and more recently has been the convenor of BAMBI since 2019. He also runs three Buddhist podcasts under the Everyday Dhamma moniker online. Sol’s current aim is to develop a community of practice in the South-West and in the longer term to help establish a monastery as a spiritual resource for the community.
