Every year, the monastic community (Monks and nuns) go on a three month retreat called the “Rains Retreat” from mid July to mid October. During this period, they do not visit our centres for teachings as it’s a time for deepening their own practice.

While the monks and nuns are away, we will have some interesting guest speakers coming in to give the Friday Night talk.

Speaker of the Night: Len Warren & Sue Lee from Hayagriva Buddhist Centre: Covid-19 – A Lesson in Impermanence & Uncertainty

Tonight’s topic is Covid-19, Impermanence & Uncertainty and the resulting anxiety and the prospect of death.  The coronavirus has really put impermanence and uncertainty in the front of our minds, where it should have been all along of course. But so many things happen daily with nothing to do with Covid that are unexpected or mark the end of something that seemed like it might go on and on. That’s this life of impermanence, uncertainty and suffering according to the Buddha.
