Vesak is the most important of the Buddhist festivals and is celebrated on the full moon in May. It celebrates the Buddha’s birthday, and, for some Buddhists, also mark Buddha’s enlightenment and death.

Part of the Buddhist Society’s activities is to welcome new Buddhists who have taken the Five Precepts in the past year, whether in person with a Monk or Nun, or online.

I have taken the Five Precepts in the past year

Please write to Lucky at asec@bswa.org with your name and postal address.

I would like to take the Five Precepts

There is still time, until 18 May. If you are unable to take the Precepts with a monk or nun, you can do so online.

Please go to the Taking Precepts Online page and follow the instructions. Once you have taken the Precepts, please write to Lucky at asec@bswa.org with your name and postal address.

Welcome Ceremony

There will be a live broadcast of the welcoming ceremony of New Buddhists (Local and Overseas) during our Vesak celebrations.

We will post more information closer to the date.
